Key stage one children have been focusing on learning about 'Well Being First' this term.

Year 2 have been thinking a lot about their year ahead and what they want to achieve, they have been writing down their goals on leaves and putting them on the learning trees so they can always have them close to hand!

They have also been reading 'In My Heart' and have been thinking about what our hearts might look like when we feel different emotions. They even created their own books, you can see how beautiful they are in the pictures!

The focus over the last few weeks has been having a growth mind set, the children have been discussing in class how we can speak to ourselves when things aren't going quite right and we know it's ok when things get tricky!

They have been thinking about the power of 'yet' and we have loved singing our 'power of yet' song to help us remember! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLeUvZvuvAs .

The children have also been drawing self portraits and thinking about all the things that make us amazing. They used beautiful water colour paints to show what's in their head and wrote kind things they love about themselves.

Year 1 children have been learning about kindness and what it is to be caring and thankful for our family and friends. They have had a wonderful time making kindness cookies and sharing them with their friends and family.

The children have also been learning about the brain and in particular the hippocampus which is primarily the memory part of our brain. They enjoyed making and wearing their brain hats and learnt about how amazing our brain is. Their attention was drawn to the fact that when we are calm, focused, listening and looking in class, our hippocampus will remember what we have learnt.

The children will learn more about other parts of the brain over the coming weeks.
