Admissions

Dear Prospective Parents,

It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome you to our website, packed full of information all about our school to help you make your choice about which school is right for your child.

We are an extremely popular school, where our families feel valued and cared for, and where real partnerships are formed - it would be lovely if you chose to join us too.

As we love the school we lead, showing Prospective Parents around is one of the highlights of the year. To help you with this important decision, I will meet you and personally express to you the wonder that is West Rise - a truly wonderful school, with Wellbeing placed fully at the heart of everything we do.

And then, after a full presentation sharing our ethos, vision and aims, and our successes, including our OFSTED rating of GOOD (with an awful lot outstanding!), we will show you around the beautiful setting, allowing you to explore the classrooms all set up and ready to welcome children. We will also communicate to you all of the things that make our amazing school the truly special and unique place that it is.

We also have our  website - a beautiful and most generous gift from previous parents, who wanted to thank us for the care and support we gave them and their lovely children during their time with us. So, please have a good browse of the website to get a flavour of our school and if you have any queries or questions about the school or the admissions process then please do get in touch, either by emailing us at: office@westriseinf.e-sussex.sch.uk or by telephone: 01323-764062.

We look forward to meeting you soon,

Louise Muller

Headteacher

Admissions to West Rise Infant School are dealt with by the Local Authority

All children enter Reception in the SEPTEMBER of the academic year in which they turn five.

We receive children into school on a full time basis in September but consider each child’s needs carefully with parents before children become full time.

Children may join our school throughout the year if places are available and procedures for admissions and settling in the school are discussed with each family on arrival.

We have a very good Transition Policy which ensures that children have a smooth transition into school whether they have had pre-school experience at West Rise Nursery, another setting, or indeed at home. Children and parents are invited for preliminary visits to meet the staff and learn more about starting school. Admission to other year groups are also welcomed, but of course are dependent on spaces being available.

TRANSFER

Children transfer to a Junior School in the September following their seventh birthday.  Children from West Rise Infant School usually transfer to West Rise Junior School. The two schools work very closely together under the ‘West Rise Schools’ umbrella.

Admission Policy can be found under the Key Policies tab.
