June 2023

Time is flying, we are already in the last term of school before the summer break!  It’s hard to believe we will be saying goodbye to our lovely Year Two children and then welcoming new families into our school again.  So much has been happening at school this month and there is lots more planned before the end of term.

Last term the children were eagerly waiting for the duck eggs to hatch… we are pleased to say ten beautiful ducklings were born and have now gone off to a lovely farm where they will all be taken good care of.

Also, this month the Reception children have been learning all about life under the sea. They recently enjoyed an exciting trip to the Sealife Centre in Brighton where they had the opportunity to explore the underwater world for themselves.

The Year One children have been continuing to learn all about the wonder of nature in particular focusing on parks, woodlands and mini-beasts. They recently enjoyed a school trip to Lymley Wood in Mayfield where they had a unique and memorable day learning about nature, animal habitats and mini-beasts.  They saw a woodpecker, a badger sett and found lots of different mini-beasts.  They also made masks, painted pots and enjoyed doing the assault course, a great day was had by all.

Our Year two children have been busy learning all about Space including: the first man on the moon, the stars and planets, the international space station and finding out amazing facts about our solar system and the night sky.  The Mobile Planetarium is due to visit at the end of this month where the children will experience a wonderful session where the entire night sky is projected onto the inside of the dome so they can look at the beautiful stars and constellations in the night sky. The presenter will explain how to identify certain stars and constellations and also tell some magical stories dating back to the times of the Ancient Greek mythology.
