At West Rise Infants we are very fortunate to have a very supportive and active Governing Body who work alongside the Headteacher and staff to ensure that our school is a special and unique place, where expectations and standards are high.

The Governing Body is made up of 12 members. There are 2 parent Governors, 1 Local Authority Governor, 7 Co-opted Governors and 2 Staff Governors.  There is also a Clerk to Governors.

There are two Committees which operate within the Governing Body. Teaching and Learning and Strategic Organisation.

Our Governors are:-

 Mrs Sandra Noble

(Chair of Governors)

Co-opted Governor

Hello my name is Sandra Noble. I have lived in Eastbourne for eight years. Previously from Brighton, where I worked for 11years as a Classroom assistant (Special Needs) and 16 years as Secretary and Finance Officer. I became a School Governor because I enjoy being involved in school life and I felt through my work experience I have something to offer. I also enjoy coming into school to work with the children. The staff and children are always happy to see us.

 Ms Nicole Hartley

 Co-opted Governor

Hello my name is Nicole Hartley. I only moved to Eastbourne last year with my son and we are loving setting up our new lives here. My son is at St Johns Mead school. My passion and work is bringing mindfulness and yoga into schools and so I'm delighted to be offered the position of governor for this school, with all the amazing work they've done with Mindup.

I hope to bring a different perspective as well as my skills and experience from years of working in the charity sector, as a holistic counsellor and yoga teacher. I'm looking forward to working with the other governors and staff to support the overall well-being of all the children of West Rise Infant School.

 Mr Duncan Lawson

(Chair of Strategic Organisation Committee)

Co-opted Governor

Hello, my name is Duncan Lawson. I have lived in Eastbourne for 15 years. I have two boys at West Rise, one in Year 2 and the other in Reception.  I am very pleased to be involved as a Parent Governor and to be part of the advancement and growth of this fantastic school.  As I am a Professional Photographer, you’ll often see me wielding a camera at school events and trips, often just taking pictures of my own children, but also taking other pictures for the school.

Mrs Gina Greaves

Co-opted Governor

Hello my name is Gina Greaves and from 1992 – 2014 I was a member of staff at West Rise Infant School and over the years I watched the School become a very special and inspirational place.  On my retirement I very much wished to continue to offer my support to the children, parents and staff, and was happy to be offered the opportunity to do this by becoming a member of the Governing Body.  I have always lived locally and have a daughter and her family living nearby, and a son and his family living in Western Australia.

Mrs Sharon Crompton

Co-opted Governor

Hello my name is Sharon Crompton. I am proud to have had links with our lovely school for over 25 years that began when my own children started school. I love my job here as a Teaching Assistant but also feel proud to be a Governor, a role that has given me a real insight into all the differing aspects of school life.  I enjoy spending time with my family, cooking and I am mad about football.

 Ms Jennifer Perry

(Chair of Teaching and Learning Committee)

Co-opted Governor

Hello my name is Jennifer Perry.  I have lived in Eastbourne for 15 years.  I taught in a High School in Staffordshire for 24 years and in 2000 I took up an exciting post at The Causeway School as Careers and Work Experience Co-ordinator.  During my teaching career I have experienced a variety of roles include Head of Year, Head of House, teacher of English, Drama and PHSE Co-ordinator.  Following my retirement in 2014 I am now looking forward to joining the Governing Body at West Rise Infants.  I have always been impressed with West Rise Students and those I have taught were always full of tales about what a wonderful and exciting experience their learning had been at West Rise.  It is a pleasure to have the opportunity to work with the staff and students at this amazing learning community.

 Mrs Louise Cann

Hello my name is Louise Cann and I have a daughter in Year 1 and two step daughters that attended West Rise when they were younger.
